Day 8
So as promised tonight’s messages are from our men. The ladies headed out to their Bible study tonight so the men were left to their own devices.
Just to let you know about our day though. Some of us headed to Uluwatu to the surfing beach and Monkey Temple and the rest stayed back to see the local area and rest if needed.
- Nice to spend the day with Brett. Jacob
- Nice to spend the day with Jacob. Brett
- Friday was a long day – spent carting bricks, mixing cement, hauling cement but the septic started to take shape. One of the best and most satisfying things was working alongside one of the orphans, Putu – 14 yrs old. He worked as hard as any other grown man on the site – a special day. Wayne
- Hi HVUC Sian
- Today Walter and I walked into Seminak. On two separate occasions we were offered girls. This was really sad. I really hope the work we are doing here at the school and the orphanage can give these children better opportunities. Paul
- Friday AM making bricks and missed out on a pastie and sausage roll for lunch, lunch pack again. PM Organising mortar and cement for the pit. Then a great job – preparing iron for the roof. Today to Monkey temple OK but the Uluwatu beach cave was a great place. The steps were very hard to climb but worth the effort. Ian
- Today was fun; we went to Uluwatu beach and the monkey temple. At the temple mum was scared of the monkeys. I also saw a monkey grab someone’s shoes and start eating it! Jordan
Our team have been so blessed to be able to grow in our faith and love for our God and for each other. Please continue to pray for team unity and opportunities to speak and share our faith with the Balinese.
Please pray for Roger as he preaches tomorrow and the worship team as they lead the congregation. Please also pray for the team heading to Western Bali and Ani, there are a few fears and concerns about this part of the trip so please keep them in your prayers.
Blessings Renee
Day 7
Today’s blog is going to be very female orientated as after work today the men headed off to their Bible study. So apologies for that but tomorrow you will hear from them I promise.
Today the group split into two, half went to the orphanage and the other half went to the school. Please read the ladies comments below…
- We painted the school inside and out. What a great day with the gorgeous children “helping” us to dry their newly washed chairs. As we sat wearily in the bus on the way home it felt like we were a bus load of prisoners who’d been working on a chain gang and now heading back “home”. God has been so faithful to your prayers for the weather – it’s been beautiful
and the locals are freezing! Jeanette - We had a great day – made extra special working with the children scrubbing their tables and chairs – “Rub-a-dub-dub” – they laughed! Win
- Labouring work has helped me overcome a slight fear of heights after climbing on rickety scaffolding for the high sanding. “Thank you God”! Have added painting to my new job vocation! Karen
- Yeah! We painted a school today. Kaye
- Great to give the school a face lift today. Beautiful to scrub the tables and chairs with the enthusiastic help of the
children. School all freshly painted now – it looks great. Such a blessing to be here. Rhonda - As we sit here at dinner the smells of Bali waft in…
- The kerosene smoke that kills the bugs
- The traffic
- The incense
- And Australia seems like a whole world away.
Thank you for your continued prayers for safety – some of the team have needed them today. Love Viv - Wonderful day painting the school. Seeing the
happy children enjoying our company, stickers and lollies. Dianne - How are you going in Adelaide? Sian
- Today was messy. I was painting and blowing bubbles to the children. In the end we got two coats done on the whole small school. Jordan
- I’m finding it quite funny how much fun I’m having with doing all this hard work. Today I was at the school, sanding then painting. The children were an absolute delight and helped with some cleaning of the tables and chairs. They are so inspiring, with the little that they have they are still so happy and I love watching them sing and play together.
Natalie - I was in my element today! God could not have placed me in any better spot than where I was today. I was at the rubbish dump painting the school, with the sweetest little children bringing me flowers as I worked. I just had to stop working to play with these children! I had the best time of my life just having fun with the gorgeous children. Today reaffirmed my choice of vocation and my thoughts of teaching in a place like Bali. Rachel
Thank you for your messages and prayers coming through it
has been so inspiring and encouraging to know that there are people at home thinking about us and continuing to keep us all in prayer.
Please pray for Sian as she has an ear infection and is not
feeling the best.
Please also pray for the worship team as they get ready to
lead the congregation on Sunday.
Blessings Renee
Day 6
Today started with the full team heading to the orphanage which was the first day we all went which was fantastic! Please continue to pray for Chantelle, Jacob and Courtney who are feeling much better today, please also pray for Natalie and Renee as they recover from a small bout of Bali Belly.
- At the Bible study last night I recognised the real nature of God, not that I didn’t know He was real, but seeing people from all over the world, from all different denominations in a small group openly discussing our love for Him, it was comforting. I was able to grasp how great and how real God’s love really is for everyone, and I mean EVERYONE. Courtney
- I really haven’t stopped to think about what I have experienced in Bali until tonight. It has been much different to my first visit. All I could see in Bali before was the despair and sadness, this time I can see some hope. Rachel
- It has been really good to knuckle down as a group and get some really good work done. Each person in the group has been able to be utilised in the work which is fantastic. It has been great to see Thom is working really hard. Brett
- Everyone has been working hard. A lot has been achieved. It is great to see the changes happening at the orphanage. It is great to see the changes in the teams relationships as we all grow. Praise the Lord for this opportunity. Sue
- If you want to see love in action check out the photos of HV women older than me mixing cement and pushing wheelbarrows full of the stuff. Paul
- Thank God fo this opportunity to feel alive and see His love in action. To see prayers answered as the “sickies” are able to work, enjoy and be part of the team. Also that your prayers for us for “cool” weather. God bless you all. Kaye
- We prayed for good weather and we got it, getting into brick-making and another day of that tomorrow, we want 200 in a day tomorrow so good sleep and into it. Ian
- God has shown His love by having Dianne praying for us all the whole time here has been wonderful. Praise the Lord for bringing these people together. Thank you for the prayers. Roslyn
- Was another day of hard work. My highlight was getting to learn some “Balinese”, and using it with the locals, who really appreciated it. In fact they were even more friendly because of it. Bill
- Another great day at the brick yard. Harold
- I had no idea I had 2 cement makers in our family. Proud of them both. Dianne
- I can now add cementing to my list of expertise. Natalie
- Today was boring! Because I was sweeping and sanding. Really boring!!! Jordan
- Knackered, was on the mixer all day. My hair is now cement. Good doing it all though. Building up a nice tan. Jacob
- Today I sanded a room with my new friend Molly, then helped make and move cement. Brilliant day! Chantelle
- I am so proud of my 3 men. Tom even had his lunch while cementing the sewer with Rob. Continue to pray for God to speak deeply into the hearts of team members. Love Viv
Thankyou for your prayers and messages of love and support, the team really appreciate the messages at our morning prayer time.
Blessings Renee
